- Oi: Hi
- Ola: Hello
- Tudo bom?: Everything good?
- Tudo bem! (responding to above): Everything's well!
- Bom dia: Good morning
- Boa tarde: Good afternoon.
- Boa noite: Good night.
- Obrigado: Thank you (add 'muito' for very much)
- Com licensa: Excuse me
- Desculpa: Sorry
- Sim/não: Yes/No
- Onde é....?: Where is the....
- Você fala inglês?: Do you speak English?
- Desculpa, não falo português: Sorry, I don't speak Portuguese.
- Prazer em conhecê-lo: I am pleased to meet you.
- Não entendo: I don't understand.
- Entende?: Do you understand?
- Entendo se falar devagar: I understand if you speak slowly.
- Tchau: Good bye
